Tim Recommends

I do not list anything here that I would not use myself. Every item has been tested on the road in my van or while traveling abroad in the winter. If it fails me it is gone. If it makes the list it means it has survived real world use and has earned a permanent place in my gear.

How I Choose Gear

The first question is always does it work. The second is will it last. I do not care if it looks good if it cannot handle rain, dust, heat, or getting tossed into an overhead bin. Price matters but reliability matters more.

Van Life Gear

These are the things that make life in a van easier and more comfortable.

  • Portable stove that can cook anywhere
  • Solar panel setup for power on the move
  • Folding chair that will not collapse after one season

Travel Gear for Abroad

I keep my travel kit light but strong.

  • Backpack that can handle years of travel
  • Power bank that keeps devices charged on long bus rides
  • Packing cubes that keep everything organized

Everyday Essentials

Items that I use daily no matter where I am.

  • Reusable water bottle
  • Lightweight rain jacket
  • Travel towel that dries fast and packs small

Where to Buy

Each item links to a trusted seller. In some cases I earn a commission if you buy through my link. It does not change your price but it helps me keep this site running.
